Prospect: the union for Vodafone

Prospect has a stong history of helping and representing members in Vodafone. In 2007, as Connect, we became the only union to make a collective agreement with Vodafone for union recognition in the UK. We work with members in all parts of the company to increase our membership and to be a voice at work for Vodafone employees.

Prospect members work in all parts of the Vodafone, across the UK, with particularly high levels of membership in Technology, Retail and Customer Services. Prospect's Connect sector has been able to give expert, professional advice and support to Vodafone employees on all matters relating to their employment.

Our experience shows that the best way to attract new members is through word of mouth, and most new applications for union membership come in as a result of existing members recommending Connect to colleagues.

How can we help you?

Experts in change As a union representing thousands of workers across the UK economy, Prospect has years of experience in helping members through changes in company structure and employment transfers. If you have questions about TUPE transfers, you can download our Q&A document by clicking on the link to the right.

Representation All employees are entitled to be accompanied when attending disciplinary or most grievance procedures. Union members may be accompanied by an accreditied representative of their union, and case handlers from Prospect's Connect sector have dealt successfully with many and various personal cases in Vodafone.

Advice and support Much of  our assistance to members is given over the phone or e-mail.  Most of the time we are able to give advice and support that helps members to sort out issues informally and confidentially with a minimum of fuss.

Prospect has helped members in Vodafone with problems around redundancy selection, pay and performance issues, unlawful deductions in salary, arbitrary changes in the commission structure, maternity leave issues, hours of work, stress in the workplace and cases of personal harassment. Members who never thought they would have a problem at work have been glad to be able to turn to the union in times of trouble.

The future?

We aim to build a mutually beneficial relationship between Connect, it's members and Vodafone. Our ultimate goal is to achieve the necessary backing from members to attain union recognition wherever Vodafone employees want an independent voice.
